A neat trick: in the case of heavy items such as these cotton reels it is often possible to stabilise the whole pallet just by lashing the topmost layer. Small ratchets that can withstand more tension are ideal for these applications.

When one carton is taken off the pallet, the remainder are simply lashed up again.
